Forex Trading and Currency Exchange Rates – Aussie and Euro Gain Broadly

Dollar Exchange Rates

The dollar declined against all major currencies today with the U.S. currency hitting 81.1436 yen and 0.7129 euro today (see average table below).

The dollar was down 0.53 percent against the euro and 0.32 percent against the yen Monday (Sunday PST).

The Group of 20 nations (G20) meeting in South Korea this weekend discussed giving more economic power to developing nations taking away power from Western nations.
The second driving force today was the second round of quantitative easing (Q2). Investors are wondering who extensive the easing will be. So far the Federal Reserve has only said that future action may be taken.

World Foreign Currency Exchange Rates

The Australian dollar gained against all major currencies today while the U.S. and Hong Kong dollars declined (see survey 1 cross tables below). The Euro gained against all major currencies except the Aussie.
The euro was up 0.109 percent against the Japanese yen, 0.124 percent against the British pound sterling and 0.154 percent against the Swiss franc.
Bloomberg is reporting that the Italians will be selling their bonds to eager buyers this week. Similar to the German bonds, the bond yields are narrowing. The report says that investors are rewarding Italy for being able to control their sovereign debt.
Members of the G-20 may make some changes to the way currencies are traded. The reports from Korea suggest that the group is committed to a “market determined” exchange rate rather than a “market oriented”.
